Superato a pieni voti il trial 2011, la Limone Extreme SkyRace è stata promossa sul campo dalla federazione italiana che l’ha voluta prova conclusiva del tricolore 2012. Una doppia sfida per gli uomini dell’Asd SS Limonese che, dopo anni di successi con le “ruote grasse”, hanno deciso di puntare tutto sulla prova skyrunning proponendo una due giorni dalla quale uscirà il vero campione italiano Fisky 2012.  Il tutto avvalendosi della consulenza di un campionissimo della specialità come Fabio Meraldi...

Oltre al rodato percorso da 23,5 km, disegnato a cavallo tra le montagne bresciane e trentine, lo staff guidato da Giovanni Fedrici &  Rodolfo Risatti si è avvalso della collaborazione di un campionissimo della specialità come Fabio Meraldi per  identificare un vertical che fosse all’altezza di un simile palcoscenico.  Da un’attenta supervisione che ha tenuto conto sia della sentieristica locale, sia delle esigenze sportive, è nata una linea d’ascesa che troverà il plauso degli amanti dell’only up.

SkyRace (Domenica 21 Ottobre): 23.5km di vero skyrunning con un dislivello di 2.451m, partenza e arrivo nella suggestiva location di Lungolago Marconi di Limone, sono i tratti distintivi di questa gara. Dopo due km tra le vie del centro cittadino, si raggiunge località Reamòl. Da qui inizia una tanto suggestiva, tanto muscolare ascesa che porta prima  a Punta Larici e poi verso Passo Rocchetta  per scollinare al "GPM" di giornata, il Monte Carone (1.621mslm). La seconda parte della competizione è un continuo cambio di pendenza che fa passare gli atleti da Bocca dei Fortini (circa 1.200 m), Monte Traversole (1.441 m) e Corna Vecchia (1.415 m). Da qui si perde quota sino a raggiungere Dalco (842 m), prima della  picchiata verso il traguardo di Limone.

Record a battere: 2h16’41” di Daniele Cappelletti & 3h06’41” di Cinzia Bertasa. 

Vertical Grèste de la Mughéra (Sabato 20 Ottobre): Circa 1100 m di dislivello positivo in nemmeno 3 km di percorso sono dati potrebbero impressionare, ma sicuramente quello che più colpirà spettatori e pubblico sarà lo strepitoso panorama che questo itinerario regala. Da i soli 60 mslm della zona partenza spara, attraverso un sentiero appositamente “ripulito” per l'occasione ai 1160 mslm dello striscione d’arrivo.   Partenza da Limone sul Garda, località foce torrente San Giovanni, dopo un primo tratto che costeggia il medesimo torrente, si percorre qualche metro su asfalto e un piccolo tratto d'uliveto. Poi su, lungo un crinale dove la salita diventa sempre più impervia e difficile. Arrivati al Dosso dei Roveri (circa metà strada) sì entrerà nel bosco, per riprendere il crinale verso la vetta. Sul finale  il sentiero qui concede anche 2 brevi tratti di discesa, ma è comunque tutt'altro che rilassante: il percorso passa sopra cascate di roccia che sembrano infrangersi nel lago sottostante. Arrivo in Località “Nembra”, ove si gode una vista mozzafiato.   

Location: Incastonato tra lago e montagne, Limone sul Garda è un borgo da “cartolina” che un tempo basava la propria economia sulla pesca e sulla coltivazione di olivi - limoni (è il luogo più settentrionale in cui si possono trovare coltivazioni di agrumi) e che ora vive prevalentemente di turismo. E’ quindi fornito di strutture ricettive di prim’ordine e può garantire il giusto supporto logistico ad eventi sportivi di caratura nazionale e internazionale. 

Media: Forte dell’esperienza agonistica maturata con la Limone Extreme Bike, l’Asd SS Limonese è sempre stata attenta a quelli che sono gli aspetti di promozione e comunicazione. Prova ne è che la prima edizione della SkyRace è passata sulle testate locali e nazionali, oltre che diverse riviste, Tv e tutti i siti di settore. Per l’edizione 2012 si è costituito un team dedicato alla comunicazione con ufficio stampa, fotografi e cameraman con il preciso intento di dare la migliore visibilità possibile all’evento e agli atleti che vi prenderanno parte.

After passing the 2011 trial with a glowing report, the “Limone Extreme SkyRace” has been promoted by the Italian Federation to be the final race of the Italian Championship 2012. A double challenge awaits the Asd SS men of Limone, who have decided to place all their bets on the skyrunning race, by planning a two day event which will confirm the real Fisky 2012 champion.
In addition to the run spanning 23,50 km over the Brescian and Trentino mountains, the organisers Giovanni Fedrici and Rodolfo Risatti, with the help of champion Fabio Meraldi wanted to draw up a “vertical” that would be of equal measures. After studying the local paths and the sporting requirements carefully, an ascent has been identified which will have the approval of all the “only up” lovers.
Sky Race (Sunday, 21st October): 23,5 Km of real sky running, with a difference in altitude of 2.451 metres. The start and finish take place in the attractive location of Limone sul Garda. After the initial 2km through the characteristic streets of the town centre and lake promenade, the athletes will reach the locality of “Reamol”. From here the route follows a strictly mountainous ascent to Punta Larici, Passo Rocchetta and then down-hill to Monte Carone (1.621 meters above sea level - “Gran Premio della Montagna”).

The second part of the competition is characterised by constant changes in gradient. The athletes will pass through “Bocca dei Fortini” (about 1.200 meters above sea level), “Monte Traversole” (1.441 meters above sea level) and “Corna Vecchia” (1.415 meters above sea level). From this point they will run down-hill to reach “Dalco” (842 meters above seal level), just before the nose-dive finish back to Limone.

“Vertical Grèste de la Mughéra” (Vertical ascent to the ridge of Mughera) – Saturday 20th October: A difference in altitude of about 1.100 metres in less than 3 km is a gradient that could impress anyone, but the wonderful panorama given throughout this itinerary will undoubtedly strike the public and athletes more than the figures. Starting from only 60 metres above sea level the athletes will reach a staggering 1.160 metres above sea level following a path designed especially for the event.

The starting line is in Limone sul Garda at the mouth of the “San Giovanni” stream. After the first stretch following the path along the stream, the athletes will run for a short distance an asphalt road. Then the path goes through the olive grove and takes them to the mountain ridge where the ascent becomes increasingly impervious and difficult. When the athletes reach “Dosso dei Roveri” (the half way mark), they will go through the woods following the ridge in the direction of the peak. Towards to end, the track goes along two short descents, but it is far from relaxing as the track goes over stone waterfalls, which then break into the lake below.

The finish is at the locality of “Nembra”, where breathless views can be enjoyed!

The location: set between the lake and the mountains, Limone sul Garda is a beautiful village that in the past based its economy on fishing and olive and lemon cultivation. It is in fact the most northern location in the world where you can find citrus fruit groves. Today its main form of livelihood is tourism and is therefore equipped with excellent accommodation facilities and can provide the right logistical support for important national and international sport events.

Media: Thanks to the experience gained through the Limone Extreme Bike Race, AsD SS Limonese always pays great attention to promotion and communication. This can be seen from the 1st Sky Race Edition which was advertised in local and national newspapers, and in many reviews, TV shows and web sites specialising in this field. For the 2012 Edition a committee has been founded which will be dedicated to communicating with press agencies, photographers and cameramen, with the aim to give the event and the participating athletes the very best visibility.
